Dr Salim Maher

Dr Maher is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with an interest in gastrointestinal endoscopy & colonoscopy, irritable/inflammatory bowel conditions and advanced liver disease & cirrhosis.

Dr Maher graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School and completed his specialist training at St George and Sutherland Hospitals. He subsequently undertook a fellowship in liver failure & liver transplantation at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

He is a Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and Visiting Medical Officer at St George Private and Waratah Private Hospitals. He is currently conducting his PhD on the interplay between diet’s effect on the gut microbiome and the development/progression of liver disease at the University of New Wales. He is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney medical school where he conducts medical research and training of medical students.

He is a caring and compassionate physician who takes a holistic approach to complex medical conditions. He welcomes referrals for any condition or symptom affecting gastrointestinal and/or liver health.
